Journeys of Faith
Pilgrims and the making of pilgrimages are common in many religions, including the faiths in ancient Egypt, Persia, and in the Mithraic period - India, China, Japan. The Greek & Roman customs of consulting the gods at local oracles are widely known. Pilgrimages could either be personal or state-sponsored.

In mainland Greece, a stream of individuals made their way to Delphi or the oracle of Zeus at Dodona, and once every four years, at the period of the Olympic games, the temple of Zeus at Olympia formed the goal of swarms of pilgrims from every part of the Hellenic world. When Alexander, the Great, reached Egypt, he put his whole vast enterprise on hold, while he made his way with a small band deep into the Libyan desert, to consult the oracle of Ammun. During the imperium of his Ptolemaic heirs, the shrine of Isis at Philae received many votive inscriptions from Greeks on behalf of their kindred far away at home.

Many religions still espouse pilgrimage as a spiritual activity. The great Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca (now in Saudi Arabia), is obligatory for every able Muslim. Other Islamic devotional pilgrimages, particularly to the tombs of Shia Imams or Sufi saints, are also popular across the Islamic world.

The Holy Land acts as a focal point for the pilgrimages of the Abrahamic religions of Islam,Christianity&Judaism,. The Pilgrims s visit the Holy Land to touch and see physical manifestations of their faith, confirm their beliefs in the holy context with collective excitation, and connect personally to the Holy Land.

Similarly, Hindus, Budhhists, Sikhs have their journeys of faith, discovering & meditating at the places where the exalted founders of their religions lived & preached.

We present to you several Programs which will help you experience the Journeys.
